Need conversation starters with a shy cousin?

So my cousin is coming round to my house soon, which we barely have anything in common. I dont think he is generally shy but he's shy around people he has barely talked to i.e. me. He's quite miserable or at doesnt really try to evolve in conversations. So to avoid many awkward silences and preventing him from boredom, what can we talk about? he's 18/19 too, a year older than me, what else can i ask him that will actually get him talking and having a bit of fun besides all the typical school and sports questions?
