How can I neutralize the chlorine left on my swimsuit?

I swim at a pool I don't own that must use a lot of chlorine. Even after thoroughly rinsing my trunks, they smell like bleach for days. This bleaches them out and wears them out quickly. Is there a safe way to neutralize the chlorine to help my speedos last longer?
