Why do Speedos always make a guy's thing look so small?

I really don't understand why. I bought them for swimming and for some reason it almost looks as if I have nothing there. It somehow pushes it in so much. Usually I don't look like that when I have underwear on, but with Speedos I do. Is that a common problem or is it just the brand Speedo and Nike?
